Contracts signed for the improvement of water utility infrastructure in Šibenik-Knin County worth almost 118 million euros

Alongside the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, Andrej Plenković, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Green Transition, Marija Vučković, and the General Director of Hrvatske vode, Zoran Đuroković, signed contracts today in Šibenik for the allocation of grants and co-financing of the project to improve the water and utility infrastructure "Vodice-Tribunj-Srima 2" worth 117.96 million euros. Of this, 66.14 million euros were secured from grants from the European Union. 

The project represents the largest single investment in the water and utility economy of the Šibenik-Knin County to date, and covers more than 35 thousand residents in the water supply system and 18 thousand residents in the drainage system. It also represents a continuation of the overall program of investments by the Government of the Republic in the water economy to strengthen the system's resilience and modernize infrastructure. 

The project will build or reconstruct 70 kilometers of drainage systems and build, reconstruct or relocate 69 kilometers of water supply pipelines. It will also modernize key parts of the Jaruga water intake system and expand the capacity of the water treatment plant in Vodice from the current 20 thousand to 37.5 thousand population equivalents. 

At the ceremonial session of the City Council of the City of Vodice, two contracts for the allocation of grants and co-financing were signed. In addition to Minister Vučković and Director Đuroković, the signatories were the Mayor of Vodice Ante Cukrov, the Mayor of Tribunj Municipality Marko Grubelić, and the Director of Vodovod i odvodnja d.o.o. Šibenik Zvonimir Štrkalj. 

In addition to today's contract, in the period from 2016 to 2025, 119.36 million euros have been invested in water management projects in the area of ​​Šibenik-Knin County so far, with further investments planned for 2026 in the amount of 16.63 million euros.
