Kosovo concludes two programs amounted to 180 million euros, considered by the IMF as one of the countries with the highest economic growth in Europe

Today, a joint press conference was held to mark the conclusion of two two-year programs with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), respectively the Standstill Arrangement (SBA) Program worth 100 million euros and the Resilience and Sustainability Program (RSF) worth around 80 million euros.

At this conference, the Minister of Finance, Labor and Transfers, Mr. Hekuran Murati, highlighted that Kosovo was the first country in the region to benefit from the RSF instrument that aimed to support well-performing countries. With the support of this instrument, Kosovo launched the wind energy auction, the solar auction, and finalized the Law on Renewable Energy.   Whereas, the SBA on the other hand enabled the maintenance of macroeconomic stability and the acceleration of reforms that enabled sustainable and inclusive growth. The achievement of the objectives enables Kosovo to receive the remaining funds, namely 16 million euros from the SBA Program and another 10 million euros from the RSF Program.   The Head of the IMF Mission in Kosovo, Mr. David Amaglobeli, congratulated the Government of Kosovo and the CBK for the substantial progress achieved. Mr. Amaglobeli underlined the country’s macroeconomic stability, stating that Kosovo has had high economic growth. Accordingly, he highlighted that Kosovo’s economic growth for 2024 is expected to be among the highest in Europe.   The Head of IMF Mission mentioned increased employment and wages, lowering inflation to 1.6%, as well as lowering public debt below 17%. He also highlighted the stability of the financial sector in Kosovo and the increase of transparency from the CBK.   That the CBK has performed with high dedication was also confirmed by the Governor of the CBK, Mr. Ahmet Ismaili, who highlighted that this institution has provided financial stability and achieved structural and indicative objectives.   Minister Murati, Head of the IMF Mission Amaglobeli and Governor Ismaili expressed mutual gratitude for successful commitment and cooperation so far, and emphasized that this cooperation will continue even in the future.
