MoF: Kisela Voda, Centar and Mogila will improve energy efficiency through grants and sub-loans under the Public Sector Energy Efficiency Project

Municipalities of Kisela Voda, Centar and Mogila will implement energy efficiency and public facility modernization measures with funds under the Public Sector Energy Efficiency Project, extended by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development – World Bank. The Project will be implemented through the PIU within the Ministry of Finance, and it is aimed at contributing to the reduction of energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
Sub-loan Agreements and Grant Agreements under the Project were signed by the mayors of the respective local government units and the Minister of Finance, Gordana Dimitrieska-Kochoska.
Sub-loan Agreement and Grant Agreement were signed with the Municipality of Kisela Voda as regards the implementation of the Sub-project in the respective municipality, encompassing reconstruction and energy efficiency upgrades of “Rajko Zhinzifov” Municipal Primary School, with a focus on improving energy performance.
In the Municipality of Centar, “Sv. Kiril i Metodij” Municipal Primary School – the first primary school in Macedonia, established in 1836, will undergo an energy efficiency reconstruction under the Sub-loan Agreement and Grant Agreement.
As regards the Municipality of Mogila, the Sub-loan Agreement and Grant Agreement include the implementation of energy efficiency measures in three public sector facilities in the respective municipality - “Brakja Miladinovci” Primary School in the Village of Dobrushevo, “Kocho Racin” Primary School in the Village of Ivanjicevi and “Iljo Lopatichki” Sports Hall in Mogila.
Implementation of the sub-projects in these municipalities falls under the first component of the Project, covering energy efficiency investments, with EUR 8.2 million allocated for this purpose. Furthermore, this component also provides for energy efficiency investments in central government buildings in the amount of EUR 9.21 million.
The purpose of the Public Sector Energy Efficiency Project is to reduce energy consumption in the public sector and support the development and implementation of a sustainable financing mechanism for energy efficiency initiatives in the public sector.
