Montenegro receives new orthophoto images with EU support

As part of the IPA 2021 project "EU Support to the Agricultural Sector in Montenegro", whose beneficiaries are the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management and the Paying Agency for Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries, aerial photogrammetric surveying of the territory of Montenegro has begun.

The project is fully financed by the European Union, and the works are being carried out by the Polish company "MGGP Aero" at a contracted value of 197,000 euros. The completion of the activity is planned by the end of September this year.

The result of the project will be new digital orthophoto images (DOF) with a resolution of 20 centimeters, as well as a digital terrain model (DTM) of Montenegro with a scale of 5×5 meters, in accordance with the applicable standards and requirements of the European Union.

The new data represent a key basis for the improvement of the Land Parcel Identification System (LPIS/SIZEP) and the further development of the Integrated Administration and Control System (IACS), which are essential for the efficient management of agricultural subsidies and compliance with the Common Agricultural Policy of the European Union.

The updated orthophoto data will enable a more precise definition and monitoring of agricultural parcels, improved control mechanisms within the IACS, and more reliable planning and implementation of agricultural policy measures.

In addition to its application in agriculture, the data will also be used in forestry, spatial planning, environmental protection, cartography and natural resource management.

Upon completion of the project, Montenegro will have an updated digital orthophoto of the state territory, which will provide state institutions, local governments and other users with a high-quality and reliable geoinformation basis for planning, management and decision-making.
