New school in Prizren built with EU funds inaugurated, Orav and Totaj consider it an investment in Kosovo's European future

The construction of the new "Nazim Kokollari" school, financed with EU funds "IPA 2017" within the framework of the European education program in the amount of 5.2 million euros, has been inaugurated in the city of Prizren.

Present at this festive event were the EU Ambassador to Kosovo, Aivo Orav, the Mayor of Prizren, Shaqir Totaj, and the Minister of Education, Hajrulla Çeku, accompanied by other education officials in Prizren and the school principal, Belkize Hoxha.

The EU Ambassador to Kosovo, Aivo Orav, speaking to students and local authorities, said that building a new school is more than bricks and walls - it is an investment in the European future of Kosovo's youth.

"Today is a big day in Prizren. We are inaugurating the primary school in Prizren with the support of the European Union, with an assistance of 5 million euros from EU taxpayers, and I think this is something visible and understandable for everyone in Kosovo. We, as the European Union, pay a lot of attention to education and creating better conditions for students and teachers here in Kosovo and we will continue to do so," said the Ambassador.

The Mayor of Prizren, Shaqir Totaj, thanking the EU and the Orav mayor for this great support in a very vital sector for society, said that "this investment is for the future of new generations and a school that will provide educational conditions for all communities."

"We must thank all parties involved. Now we are here in a facility that can be freely considered a modern school and this school creates very important prerequisites not only for learning, but also for the education of new generations and new generations. We know how important investment in education is, because in fact it is invested in our future, it is invested in the production of new cadres who will be carriers of a process of overall development of the city of Prizren," said Totaj.

The Minister of Education, Hajrulla Çeku, has also thanked the EU for this investment, saying that the reform and development of education also requires better and more modern conditions.

"I believe that the reform and development of education requires good and modern conditions, which this school offers. I would like to appeal once again to all municipalities for cooperation because in the reform of pre-university education, the Ministry of Education, respectively the government and the municipality are partners and only together can we achieve common goals," he said.

The construction of the “Nazim Kokollari” primary school in Prizren cost 5.2 million Euros. The school's internal inventory was provided by the Ministry of Education.

The school, located in one of the city's newest and most urbanized neighborhoods, currently has 400 students and 30 teachers. The total number of students is expected to reach 900 at full capacity in the coming years.
